Sony PSP Repairs: Fix the Gadget Yourself

Playing games, watching movies or hearing music from the Sony PSP can be frustrating if the device has some problem. Running into trouble sometimes come with acquiring high-tech equipment. The Sony PSP can also be prone to damages due to the repeated usage of the device. It is, therefore, important for the user to have some basic knowledge on Sony PSP repairs.

It is better to acquire some technical knowledge on troubleshooting to save you some money on your portable game station. A user usually encounters two basic problems with the PSP, or any similar piece of equipment. These are hardware and software problems.

Most common troubles that occur with the PSP hardware usually involves the LCD screen. Troubles also happen to the joystick or buttons, the battery, and other stuff. These problems can be easily fixed. Be a Sony PSP repair man yourself. Here are some steps in fixing a broken LCD:

1. You should have a replacement LCD screen. The item can be bought from Sony authorized selling agents or stores.

2. After acquiring the LCD screen, open the back of the Sony PSP.

3. Take out the six screws inside by using a precision screwdriver set. Two of the screws are covered by the warranty tape underneath the battery. Carefully strip off this tape to reveal the two screws and take them off.

4. Remove the plastic casing of the PSP and pry the edges of the LCD using a flat screwdriver or any small flat tool. When the metal edges are lifted, the LCD will pop out along with the cables attached to the clips. Be extremely cautious not to break the clips, otherwise, you will have to stop the process and bring your gadget right away to Sony for repair.

5. Carefully remove the cables of the LCD screen from the clips. Once the LCD is separated to the clips, put it out and replace it with the new LCD screen. Put the new LCD by snapping it back into the metal assembly. Press along the edges and not in the middle, this could damage the new screen.

6. When the LCD is in place, put the plastic cover and the screws back. Turn on your gadget and enjoy playing with your new LCD screen.

Take note, however, that what is discussed above is not the approved procedure in replacing the LCD. It is still better to have a Sony PSP Repair Guide with you. There are stores that sell this handbook. Better yet, if you have money, bring your PSP to a Sony service center near your area.

Having awareness on basic Sony PSP repairs is of advantage to you. Besides saving a couple of money, you can be sure that your gadget will be handled carefully as you will have to do it yourself. This could also save you the hassle of waiting for your gadget to be fixed. Not to mention your wariness, if you are too protective of your PSP, of the outcome of the repair.
