I can usually tell during the first ten minutes of meeting with a prospective client if they are willing to do the work necessary to bring about change in their life, or if they are simply testing the waters. The clients that welcome change are open to just about anything. They say things like “I don’t care what it takes! This year I’m making $40,000, but next year I will make $90,000!” There is nothing wrong with testing the waters with just your big toe at first, but when will you know that it is the right time to dunk your foot and then your legs in the pool? The chill of the water can hit you pretty hard when it hits your stomach but it could really be worth it. If you continue to sit on the edge of the pool you will never learn to swim. At some point you just have to do it. Maybe your plans are not fully finished. Does that matter? Many times 60% is all the planning you need to accomplish your major goals. Incomplete planning is one reason I have become so successful. Rarely do I ever plan something fully through to completion. I know I have wasted money or spent too much along the way. In my eyes however, I am way ahead of those that never began the journey. Don’t strive to be someone that hears good ideas and then does not act. I try to take at least one good idea each day and act on it. That idea may be in business, family, personal finances or my relationship with my wife. When would NOW be a good time to start making a change in your life?
